2010 Massachusetts Middle School
Cross Country Invitational
2nd Annual Races
Saturday, November 6, 2010
Tewksbury MA
Sponsored by Saucony
Information as of August 10
USA Track & Field - New England will be hosting the second Massachusetts Middle School Cross Country Invitational.
There is no organization that deals with middle school athletics in Massachusetts, so despite the existance of very active cross country programs in those grades, there is no capstone event to the season. USATF New England is filling that gap.
The meet moves to Tewksbury at the town's recreation fields for 2010, with good support of the recreation department officials. It is several miles off of Rt 93 (Dascomb Rd. exit). Parking is plentiful, though we still recommend carpooling.
This meet provides an opportunity for middle school runners in grades 5-8.
It is open to all schools - public, parochial, private, and charter - and home schoolers in those grades are welcome to compete as well.
This is a school-based competition, not club-based; individuals will be representing their schools.
At this time, the format will be the same as last year - boys and girls races for grades 5/6, grade 7, grade 8, and a team 'championship' race.
Given increased interest this year, we may need to add a second team race for both boys and girls. That will be determined in mid-October.
The preliminary summary of the event - entry, schedule, times, awards - can be found at Meet Information page.
This will be updated again AFTER SEPTEMBER 7, so please check this site regularly.
The Course Map will be posted as soon as the course is finalized, at the end of the summer.
The course will be marked in mid-October and teams may visit the public fields as long as they do not interfere with scheduled events. Coaches should accompany their teams on any tours or practices at the course.
We appreciate your interest and support of this groundbreaking event.
